1:45 PM–5:30 PM
Grace Episcopal Church
20 Belvoir Avenue, Chattanooga, TN, 37411
Attire: Semi-formal
Guests can arrive at 1:45pm EDT to be seated for the 2pm wedding ceremony. Please check out our FAQ to know more about the context for our traditional Episcopal wedding ceremony followed by food and dancing downstairs. We are not serving alcohol but will be done early enough that folks can go out after if they want while Evan and Lauren collapse from all the excitement.
1:45 PM–3:00 PM
Ceremony in the Nave
Attire: Semi-formal
All guests are invited to join Evan and Lauren in our chosen ritual of a traditional Episcopal wedding ceremony. The ceremony begins at 2pm EDT, so 1:45 pm is seating. This sacrament will include hymns, incense, the vows, readings from the Old and New Testament, a homily from the priest, and communion. The Episcopal Church welcomes all, regardless of religion. Partaking of communion (wine and wafer) is entirely optional, and Father Zac will share verbal options for how to participate as well as written instructions. We encourage guests to read our FAQ for more context around our choice to include this ritual.
3:15 PM–5:30 PM
Dancing, Cake, and Food downstairs
Attire: Semi-formal or feel free to change to dance!
Evan and Lauren will take family photos while guests begin enjoying music downstairs in the Undercroft, which is the fellowship hall of Grace Episcopal Church (lower level). Ceremony is directly before on upper level in the Nave. Refreshments from local Greek restaurant The Acropolis will be served. Evan and Lauren will make an entrance, cut their cake, and take their first dance. At that point Lauren will change into more dance-friendly attire because she wants to enjoy DJ Molly Parti from Asheville, NC! Evan and Lauren won’t be making a grand exit because Lauren is likely to close down the dance floor. Our photographer will make sure we have a well-captured grand entrance! We are choosing not to serve alcohol since we do not drink and will be done in time for folks who do to enjoy beverages safely in a more walkable part of the city. The Brainerd area is on a bus route, but Chattanooga tends to be very car-centered so those flying in may want to plan ahead for taxi, uber/lyft, or checking the CARTA bus schedule. The church is approximately 15 minutes from our downtown (easy public transportation in this area). It is also about 15 minutes from the car-centric Hamilton Place Mall area, which also can have good hotel options. Downtown is more unique/expensive, and the mall is more corporate/cheaper from our experience.
